Dog Potty Training Tips

• Encourage - Dont Punish. Your puppy wants to please you, he needs to learn how. A heavy hand is not as effective as some friendly encouragement and may very well sour the relationship with your dog.


• There are various methods available to potty train your puppy. Some will be more suited to the temperament of your dog (and yourself) than others. So do your research and try to chose a method that you can relate to - and if one method doesn't suit you - don't give up, another process is likely to work for you better.


• Be consistent - Even the best training method will fail if you are inconsistent with how you apply it.


• Shit Happens. Despite your (and your dogs) best efforts , accidents will happen - be patient and keep some pet stain & odour remover on hand.


• Changing foods can change the consistency of your puppy's poohs. Try to give him a high quality dry food, and stay away from canned food unless suggested by the vet.


• If you are unable at certain times to supervise you dog , consider confining him to a "safe" area, such as a suitable pet crate.
